Her son Riley, just 18 and barely graduated from high school, had lost his life in a car accident. Just one day shy of what would have been Riley's 22nd birthday - the fourth annual Riley Key Scholarship Benefit Barrel Race was held in Giddings, Texas at the Lee County Sherriff's Posse arena. Fischer says that they had no idea when they started the memorial race that it would grow so big. It now takes organizers the better part of a month to prepare each year. The bottom line of the race is to raise funds for the scholarship program. Along with the race, funds are raised through t-shirt, sweatshirt and bracelets sales as well as from the sales of the DVD From the Hearts of Champions, which features Fischer, Jatzlau, Kay Blandford, Liz Pinkston, and WPRA World Champs Sherry Cervi, Kristie Peterson, and Kappy Allen.
